NNSM 2012 UPDATE: STYLEMANIA JOINS L’OREAL PARIS AS OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF NNSM!
For an event that has the backing of world’s biggest cosmetic brand, L’OREAL amongst others, Nigeria’s Next Super Model 2012 will see StyleMania Magazine (Nigeria’s version of VOGUE) sponsor the event, which is undoubtedly Africa’s biggest model search.
Regarding the sponsors, the brief available to us states:
“…going by the major sponsors this year, L’Oreal Paris and sponsorship coming from Nigeria’s answer to Vogue, StyleMania magazine, it has become a thing of joy to see this brand (NNSM) waxing this strong. From watching the girls from this show jet setting the world it was not a surprise to see that the biggest cosmetic company in the world L’Oreal Paris with its mega brands like Dark and Lovely and Maybelline New York have indicated that both brands will be used to sponsor this show. With former Miss World 2001, Agbani Darego as the global spokesperson for L’Oreal brand, we hope to have many young female models in Nigeria aspire to the zenith of their respective careers.
Mania has become the magazine that Nigerian models look up to to do their model books. Dimeji Alara, the Editor of the said magazine will be a judge in the house and at the grand finale and of course bringing a wealth of experience to the show. Nigerians will be seeing this show on international and local TV stations.”
As the iconic magazine joins L’ Oreal Paris as a topnotch sponsor, NNSM 2012 is set to be the mother of all models shows in Nigeria this year.
We will keep you posted as more sponsors emerged in subsequent weeks. Also, you could visit this website for more details on the StyleMania magazine deal with NNSM 2012.

If you happen to be one of those that are sarcastic about the way African Models, African Fabrics and African Designers are appreciated on the International platform, then you've gotta watch this clip.
It shows how London celebrates African fashion at the African Fashion Week London 2012. The appreciation was so obvious that it made MSN headlines as well as Yahoo!, People.co.uk, Independent.ie, TalkTalk.co.uk, African Fashion Week London of course and thousands of bloggers all over the world.

Behind the Catwalk, Suspicion and Suits
The document is typical of the kind of evidence jurors in Federal District Court in Manhattan will be shown beginning June 1, when a complex class-action suit brought by a group of models against their former modeling agencies goes to trial. Though jurors may show up expecting sexy stuff, they will soon learn that the case has little to do with catwalks, lingerie or lithe beauties and everything to do with the interpretation of documents like the one lawyers now refer to as the ''Ha-ha-ha'' memo.
Is it evidence that Ms. Pillard knew she was involved in a price-fixing scheme? Or proof that she thought suspicions about such a scheme were way off the mark?
The fate of some of the best-known New York modeling agencies -- Elite, Next, Wilhelmina and Ford Models among them -- may hang on just such questions. Because the plaintiffs have charged the agencies with fixing the commissions of potentially thousands of models over a period of years and because damages in antitrust lawsuits are tripled, a verdict against the agencies could cost them tens of millions of dollars -- much more, the agencies have said, than they have on hand.
Some could face bankruptcy from the legal fees alone, say people with knowledge of the suit. The models have intimated in court papers, and in two related suits in New York State Supreme Court, that if they can't collect from the agencies themselves, they'll go after the personal assets of some of the biggest names in the modeling industry, like Dieter Esch, the head of Wilhelmina; John Casablancas, the founder of Elite; and the Ford family, which started Ford Models.
